Project Story

Light pours across leathered quartzite and warm wood, setting the tone for a home built around easy living and multigenerational comfort.

Our client envisioned a modern home that could welcome her aging parents without compromising on style. We reworked the floor plan to integrate an elevator off the mudroom, repurposed a second-floor bedroom into a connecting hallway, and built out a new laundry room—solving accessibility challenges while opening up the heart of the house for a full kitchen renovation.

The California-inspired kitchen centers on an oversized island and a 48" Wolf range framed by a stone-wrapped hood in leathered "Tahiti" quartzite. Custom Shaker cabinetry in light stained wood, glass-front uppers, a pull-out pantry, and clever island storage balance warmth with modern function, while updates to the mudroom, primary bedroom, and basement carry the same simplified aesthetic throughout. McGrath Interiors brought cohesive interior design and space planning to this Chester County home, blending custom cabinetry, tile work, and thoughtful detail into a space made for everyday life.
