Project Story

Light pours across leathered Tahiti quartzite and warm wood cabinetry in a home rebuilt around how this family actually lives.

The client wanted a modern, California-inspired feel paired with thoughtful accommodations for aging parents joining the household. We integrated an elevator off the mudroom using the former laundry footprint as the hoistway, reworked a second-floor bedroom into a connecting hallway, and built out a new laundry room — opening accessible flow across all three levels without sacrificing the floor plan.

The kitchen anchors the renovation, centered on an oversized island and a 48" Wolf range with a hood wrapped in the same Tahiti quartzite as the counters and backsplash. Light-stained Shaker cabinetry, glass-front uppers, a pull-out pantry, and an under-sink sparkling water system layer warmth and utility into the space, while custom cabinetry, refinished wood floors, and updates to the mudroom, bath, basement, and primary bedroom carry one cohesive aesthetic through the home — a McGrath Interiors approach to interior design and space planning rooted in Chester County and the greater West Chester area.
